押し込み (OSHIKOMI), 2021, Julio Goya
手漕ぎの舟の男たちが運ぶのは重さ約1トンの太鼓台。やがて舟が着岸すると、待ち受けていた男たちが威勢よく太鼓台を陸へ下ろす。指揮をとる男。下ろされた太鼓台は桟敷まで一気に担ぎ「押し込」まれる。沸く観衆たち。
小豆島の祭り「押し込み」の光景で、2019年には招かれてフリオ ゴヤも実際に太鼓台を担ぎました。 島を離れた人もこの日には戻ってくるという伝統行事がコロナ禍で2年連続中止されたことを受け、「押し込み」を守ってきた地元の人々への敬意を込めて、舟の出発地である神浦にレリーフを制作しました。

The men in the rowing boat carry a drum of about 1 ton. When the boat reaches the shore, the waiting men pull down the drum to the land. A commanding man. The drum is then carried up and "pushed" into the place where crowd waits. Excited spectators. The relief shows scenes of Shodoshima island's traditional festival OSHIKOMI or "Pushing", which Julio Goya was invited to “push” the drum with locals in 2019.
Even people who left the island return for this day but the event was canceled for two consecutive years due to Covid 19. In honor of the locals who have kept OSHIKOMI, Julio Goya created the relief in Konoura, the departing point of the boat.
