小豆島の岩の海岸を散策中、大きく平らな断面で2枚に割れている石があることに気づいたフリオ ゴヤは、石を持ち帰り、のみを打ち入れて割れを再現する試みを重ねます。「サンドイッチのパンのような１対に割って、何か挟んだら面白いかなと思ったんです」。 石を彫ることはしても、割って使うことは思いつかない。他の彫刻家はフリオ ゴヤの自由な発想にそう驚嘆しました。これまでの鉄の作品にはない新たな作風が見られたフリオ ゴヤの個展「シマからシマへ」。その原点とも言えるのがこの作品です。 While strolling along a rocky shore of Shodoshima island, Julio Goya found a stone that had been split into two pieces with a large flat cross section. "I thought it would be interesting to split a stone into a pair like sandwich bread and sandwich something."   Sculptors carve stone but won't think of splitting stone like he does, said a sculptor praising Goya's free thinking. Viewers of t he exhibition "From an island to an island" found that Goya has developed a new style not found in his previous iron works. You could say it started with this work.
